Előadás absztrakt:

One of the first issues tackled in teacher training is the role of the teacher. Awareness of the teacher’s place in the classroom is not enough in classroom interaction. The latter, which comprises everything that involves dealing with children/(young) adults, poses many challenges to teacher trainees. These are due to fast pace the image of the teacher as such changes. In the era the multitude of social media platforms and the ever-expanding roles of the teacher both outside and inside the classroom, young teachers must navigate their way caught between the “traditional” and “modern” image of a teacher. Our purpose in the present study is to reflect upon the persona of teacher in the 21st century based on teacher trainee’s views on what a modern teacher should be like and what is expected of them. The study is based on interviews with second-year English teacher trainees.
