Előadás absztrakt:

The performance of education in a sense reflects student achievements. I will go to the student's performance in my lecture, because the main cause of school failure and drop-out is largely due to the fact that students are achieving a lower level of performance on international surveys year after year. By the middle of the first decade following the change of regime, the proportion of drop-outs dropped from around 20 to 22 percent, but the legal measures enforcing the most disadvantaged education in vocational schools started to rise clearly. The European Union intends to reduce the proportion of early school-leavers in order to promote social inclusion, and thus set a target value. This target value (10%) was not reached by either the EU countries or Hungary by 2010. The target set in the EU 2020 strategy is to reach Hungary again by 10% by 2020. I chose the method of my empirical research to make structured interviews. I conducted my studies in two public secondary education institutions in Dunaújváros. I asked students from two 13th grade classes with my interview questions. Following the systematization and analysis of responses, I give answers to the research questions that I have formulated (school and learning failure and student drop-out).
